Review: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Enjoy a fun short video highlighting some of the top games for The Nintendo DS.

Review: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

The Legend of Zelda is a video game series that has stood the test of time. The main character, Link, has been valiantly battling for the sake of good ever since I was a little girl. In The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass Link is back to fight for the sake of good. For anyone wondering where Phantom Hourglass fits in I'll catch you up to where we are. The last quest Link undertook was on was on the GameCube and called Wind Waker. Wind Walker ended with a captivating scene of Link and Tetra on a boat sailing in to a lovely sun set.

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass picks up right then and there and begins our heroes quest to locate the Ghost ship. The first thing that caught my eye when I began to play this game was the brilliant cinematics. You almost forget your playing on a hand held system. The producers of the game did a fantastic job capturing the feelings, emotions, and romanticism of each and every character.

I know what it's like to skip the cinematics because they are boring or cheesy and then to have no clue whats happened in the story line. In Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass the creators captivate you and you will truly enjoy sitting and watching the theatrics. You won't want to miss out and you wont fall behind.

On the downside of this game if you are not accustomed to playing with a stylus then you will have a very slow start. Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is a touch based game that is very creatively done. Whiled I was discouraged by using the stylus at first; I caught on quick. I would venture to say of all the stylus based games this is the best one to learn on.

While the new touch pad gaming style can be a bit of a struggle it also has a bright side. With this new interesting technology a new world of gaming opens. This is the very first step to a way of gaming that brings all new and exciting exploration to gaming. This new technology in Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass allows you to wield weapons like never before. The precision of the weapons is just one small aspect of the fun new invention. There are so many more. My favorite is throwing the boomerang! To be honest I've spent many hours noodling around just having fun throwing the boomerang!

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass will not let you down as long as you don't mind being one of the first to use the touch screen stylus on the whole of the game. If you already have some experience with that then you will have no troubles. Looking in to the future I see this being a source for inspiration, many games to come will expand on the stylus systems that this Legend of Zelda game uses.

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass costs about $39.95 at most stores however (if you're looking to save money yet legally acquire the game) it is available for download at Unlimited DS Downloads. I rate this as a must have and recommend it for all age groups. This is my take on Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Enjoy!
